Coat fabric reconstruction for the ‘Shadow and Bone 2’ movie by Netflix

The custom fabric reconstruction was made for the ‘Shadow and Bone 2’ movie. The weaving of the reconstruction requires a great deal of structural knowledge, as there is no clue as to how the fabric could have been made. The material of the jacket required the use of a special doublé fabric structure. In order to weave the pattern to scale, it was necessary to estimate precisely how much the fabric shrinks in the direction of the warp and weft from the beginning to the finished textile. The copy is made of premium quality merino wool, with which we tried to reproduce the material character of the original fabric as best as possible. After the fabric was finished, the aging specialist prepared it for sewing to match the original.
